Electrochemical multiphase flows are characterized by a complex interplay of flow, heat and mass transfer, electrical and capillary effects. The proposed colloquium aims to address fundamental fluid dynamics questions that influence the gas bubble evolution and transport and thus also the efficiency of devices. Particular focus will be on interfacial phenomena at electrodes and gas-liquid interfaces from bubble nucleation to departure, wetting and coalescence phenomena and the impact of electric field and surfactants. It also includes the discussion of related developments of numerical and experimental techniques and of emerging trends in electrode design such as surface-texturing and porous electrodes.
