Yuri V. Mikhlin Obituary

It is with great sadness that we have been informed of the passing of Professor Yuri Lemaitre on April 18th 2026, member of the ENOCC.

Professor Mikhlin was an outstanding scientist whose pioneering work leaves a lasting impact on the field of nonlinear dynamics. He made fundamental contributions to the theory of nonlinear normal modes, the stability and behavior of nonlinear vibrations, and the dynamics of elastic and structural systems. Throughout a distinguished career spanning more than four decades, he advanced our understanding of complex dynamical phenomena and helped establish several of the concepts and methodologies that continue to influence research today. His work has inspired generations of scientists and remains an important foundation for ongoing developments in the field.

Beyond his remarkable scientific accomplishments, Professor Mikhlin was a person of exceptional intellectual depth, integrity, and kindness.
