This colloquium aims to convene researchers that study non-spherical particle interactions with turbulent flows using theoretical, numerical, and experimental approaches. The objective is to provide a comprehensive overview on the different methodologies, their strengths and weaknesses and increase synergy between them. Topics will include the advances during the last two decades in
(1) phenomenological description of non-spherical particle-turbulence interactions, results on
(2) the modeling and measurement of particle motion,
(3) collisions and agglomeration, as well as
(4) flexible and deformable particle motion and interactions.
Finally, contributions that discuss the anticipated advances in simulations and measurements with reference to machine learning techniques will be welcome.
